Time from the hotel: Train and busapprox. an hour and 20 minutes

The original fortress of Himeji Castle was extended after its construction in 1333, and by 1617 it was completed as we see today. Himeji Castle is also known as "White Heron Castle" because it resembles a white heron spreading its wings. The castle's most distinctive feature is its vivid white plaster walls.

Himeji Castle and Horyu-ji Temple in Nara were Japan's first locations to be listed as World Heritage sites. Inside the castle, you can experience new exhibitions that use AR and CG technology.
