Nijo Market was founded in the early Meiji period by the fishermen of the Ishikari Coast. Today, it has approximately fifty shops, and in addition to seafood such as salmon, crab and salmon roe, it sells potatoes, melons and other agricultural produce.
Beginning with Noren Yokocho (Noren Alley), there are also many restaurants and eateries near the market where you can enjoy fresh seafood to your heart's content.
