Introduction of accommodation tax in Hokkaido Prefecture and Sapporo City

Thank you for your continued patronage of karaksa hotel Sapporo.

 

Hokkaido Prefecture and Sapporo City will introduce an accommodation tax as a special-purpose tax starting from stays on April 1, 2026, aimed at creating sustainable tourist destinations chosen by domestic and international travelers and promoting tourism development initiatives.

 

The tax amount (prefectural tax + city tax) based on the accommodation charge per person per night is as follows:

*Accommodation fee refers to the room-only rate per person per night. Meals, consumption tax, etc. are not included.
*Accommodation tax is exempted for guests participating in school trips and other school events, as well as their accompanying supervisors.
*Guests aged three and above participating in events organized by nursery schools, certified children's centers, etc., as well as their accompanying supervisors, are also exempt from the tax.
