An environmentally friendly and progressive public market—one of the largest in the world
The Toyosu Market, which relocated from Tsukiji in 2018, is one of the world’s largest public markets with a site area of approximately 410,000 m2 and a total floor area of approximately 510,000 m2. The market handles a wide variety of fresh food products, such as vegetables and seafood, that are distributed primarily in the Tokyo metropolitan area but also throughout Japan and internationally.
It is an advanced central wholesale market with environmental considerations, such as an enclosed design that allows for temperature control by section, as well as smooth logistics, energy conservation, and greening.
The market has a public viewing area for seafood, fruits, and vegetables, where visitors can watch the early-morning auctions. The market’s unique restaurant and shopping areas also attract many tourists.
* Please check the official website for the schedule of tuna auction viewings.
